History

The use of the bus as a public means of transportation in Greece started in 1896 and for 25 years there was a rudimentary service with primitive and makeshift buses. Then the need for improvement imposed the establishment of  legal provisions and thus the buses began to operate in various forms until 1952 when with the LD 2119/52 the Departmental KTEL was established and finally the year of 1973 was the starting point of the operation of KTEL BUS SERVICES  in their current form.

The company KTEL Heraklion-Lasithi S.A. responding to the requirements of our days, makes our Organization one of the most modern in Greece by the continuous renewal of coaches, the creation of  modern equipment, the organization of services and personnel training.

Today the Company has 165 buses, 90% of which are dated since 2003-2004, a double – decker with air-conditioning and 300 qualified members of staff who are at the disposal of all passengers for their safe, comfortable, fast and economical transportation.

Our goals are to convince the passengers to use the bus because apart from the reduced ticket prices for handicaps, students, children of big families etc. as part of our social service, we offer at the same time the necessary comfort, economy and certainty.

The Company KTEL Heraklion-Lasithi SA provides services all over the island of Crete and connects it to the mainland of Greece, carrying out itineraries to Lamia, Larisa, Katerini, Thessaloniki, Patra, Corinthos, Arta, Messologgi and Ioannina.
